Where to vote in Brampton on October 26
The rule changes on election day. During advance voting you could vote anywhere in Brampton. On October 26, you can only vote at a voting location in the ward where you are on the voters’ list.

To find your locations:
- Open the City’s Where Do I Vote tool and enter your address.
- Pick any location it shows for your ward. The City also lists every voting location by ward on its Where Do I Vote page.
- If you got a voter notice in the mail, it lists your voting locations too. Bring it, but remember it doesn’t count as ID.
Not sure which ward you’re in? The same tool tells you, and our Brampton ward map guide walks through the steps. Once you know, you can check who is running for council in your ward.
Voting places inside long-term care homes and retirement homes are for their residents only, and their hours can differ.
Brampton election day voting hours
Every regular voting location is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26.
Time off work to vote
Every eligible voter is entitled to three consecutive hours to vote on election day, the City’s voter FAQ says. That doesn’t mean three hours off. If your shift ends at 5 p.m., you already have three hours (5 to 8 p.m.) and your employer doesn’t have to give you more. If you work until 7 p.m., your employer must let you leave early enough to have three hours, and the employer decides when.
What ID to bring to vote in Brampton
Bring one document that shows your name and your Brampton address. It doesn’t need a photo. The City’s list of acceptable ID includes:
- Ontario driver’s licence or Ontario Photo Card
- Ontario health card, but only if it shows your name and address
- A utility bill for hydro, water, gas, phone or cable
- A bank or credit card statement
- A property tax assessment, mortgage statement, lease or rental agreement
- An income tax assessment notice, or a T4 or pay stub from your employer
The City’s list doesn’t say whether a bill on your phone counts. If you plan to use an electronic copy, confirm with the City’s election office first, or bring paper.
Who can vote in Brampton’s election?
You can vote if you are:
- A Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years old on October 26, 2026
- Living in Brampton, or owning or renting property in Brampton (or the spouse of someone who does)
- Not barred from voting by law
Check that you’re on the voters’ list with the City’s Am I On the List tool. Online changes close at 5 p.m. on October 17. After that, you can still add or update your details at a voting location on election day, with your ID. Live in Mississauga instead? Our Mississauga Election Day guide covers that city’s hours and voting places.
Can’t vote in person? Use a proxy
If you can’t get to a voting place, you can appoint another eligible Brampton voter as your proxy. You fill in two copies of the appointment form, and your proxy takes them to the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 2 Wellington Street West, to be certified.

The last day to certify a proxy is Monday, October 26, at 4:30 p.m. The Clerk’s Office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each voter can appoint one proxy, and a proxy can vote for only one person who isn’t a close relative. The City’s voting by proxy page has the full steps, or call 905.874.2424.
Brampton has no online or mail-in voting in this election.
Accessible voting
The City says all voting locations are fully accessible. On election day, each ward has one location with an accessible voting unit, marked with an asterisk (*) on the City’s location list. If you need the unit, go to that location in your ward.
What’s on your ballot
You’ll vote for mayor, your city councillor, your regional councillor and a school board trustee. The 12 people running for mayor are in our list of Brampton mayor candidates, and trustee races are in our school board trustee list.
Before you vote for mayor, it’s worth reading how strong mayor powers change what the next mayor can do on their own.
