Accuracy first. We aim to publish information that is accurate, sourced and fair. We verify key facts, such as dates, numbers, names and locations, against official or primary sources whenever possible, and we link to those sources.
Original reporting. We write our own stories. We do not copy other outlets’ work or photographs. When we rely on another outlet’s reporting, we attribute it and link to it.
Sources. We prefer named, verifiable sources. We use anonymous sources only when there is a compelling reason and we can confirm the information independently.
Fairness. We seek comment from people and organizations criticized or directly affected by a story. We separate news from opinion and label opinion pieces clearly.
Independence. Advertisers, sponsors and political parties do not influence our coverage. Sponsored content is always labelled as such. We do not accept payment to publish or remove news stories.
Elections. We do not endorse candidates in our news coverage. Voting guides rely on official information from the City of Brampton and its election office.
Use of technology. We use software tools, including AI, to help with research, drafting and graphics. A person reviews and is responsible for everything we publish.
Corrections. We correct errors promptly and openly. See our Corrections Policy.
