From any Brampton station, GO Transit’s main route to Union that weekend is the train to Mount Dennis GO, then Line 5 Eglinton to TTC Line 1, then Line 1 to Union Station. GO estimates the Mount Dennis to Union part of the trip at about 55 minutes.

Steps for the Kitchener GO line closure in Brampton: GO train to Mount Dennis, Line 5 Eglinton, then TTC Line 1 to Union Station

Your options, according to GO Transit:

  1. Train and subway (all Brampton stations): take the GO train to Mount Dennis, ride Line 5 Eglinton to connect with TTC Line 1, then take Line 1 to Union.
  2. Bus and subway (Bramalea GO): take GO bus route 30 or 47 to the Highway 407 Bus Terminal, then TTC Line 1 to Union.

What changes on Friday, October 30 and the following Monday?

GO Transit is also changing three late trains out of Union Station on Friday, October 30, the night before the Kitchener GO line closure starts:

  • The 9:34 p.m. train from Union ends at Georgetown GO at 10:35 p.m. A GO bus takes riders on to Kitchener.
  • The 10:34 p.m. train from Union reaches Kitchener GO at 12:31 a.m., five minutes later than usual.
  • The 11:34 p.m. train from Union to Mount Pleasant GO will not run. A GO bus will leave the Union Station Bus Terminal, run direct to Bramalea GO, then make all stops to Mount Pleasant GO.

On Monday, November 2 and Tuesday, November 3, GO says arrival and departure times will move one minute earlier or later than usual.

Do you still pay one fare with the transfers?

Ontario’s One Fare program covers transfers between GO and the TTC when you pay with a physical PRESTO card, PRESTO in a mobile wallet, or a contactless credit or debit card, GO Transit says. You must use the same card for the whole trip. One Fare does not apply to cash, paper tickets or GO e-tickets.

GO also asks riders to tap on and off at every point of the trip that weekend, including when you transfer to a bus, so you are charged the right fare.
