Can you go apple picking in Brampton itself?

Yes. Two pick-your-own apple farms are inside Brampton, both on Heritage Road: Carl Laidlaw Orchards and Big R’ Apple Farm. They are the closest apple picking to most Brampton homes, but both run on shorter or less regular hours than the bigger Caledon farms.

Carl Laidlaw Orchards, 9496 Heritage Road, grows apples and pears. Its website lists the season as September and October, open Saturdays and Sundays (plus Labour Day and Thanksgiving Monday) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last entry at 4:30 p.m. The site does not give a year for those hours, so call 905-456-2095 to confirm before you go.

Big R’ Apple Farm, 8674 Heritage Road, posts a picking status on its homepage. Its October 9, 2026 update said picking was open and listed Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, McIntosh, Jonagold, Fuji, Empire and Cortland apples, plus vegetables such as squash, tomatoes and peppers. The farm takes cash only. It posted hours for the Thanksgiving long weekend only, so call (647) 929-5408 for current hours.

Apple picking in Caledon, just north of Brampton

Three larger farms in Caledon post more detail about their 2026 apple seasons, including bag prices and rules for visitors.

Downey’s u-pick farm, 13707 Heart Lake Road, says it is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with last field admission at 5 p.m., and that the season ends in early November. You do not need a ticket, but everyone who enters must buy a picking bag at the entrance. Pets are not allowed, and bags and backpacks must stay in your car. Downey’s Pumpkinfest is a separate event, covered in our pumpkin patch guide.

Albion Orchards, 14800 Innis Lake Road, announced on September 1 that it was open for the 2026 season and lists apple picking among its offerings from August through December. It does not post regular hours, so check the farm’s site or social media first. The farm says no dogs or pets are allowed.

Dixie Orchards, 14309 Dixie Road in Inglewood, sells farm admission tickets on its website. The farm says anything you pick costs extra on top of admission, and that different apple varieties are ready at different times through the fall.

Which apples are ready to pick in late October?

Downey’s posts a harvest calendar for its own orchard. These are its approximate picking windows for late October and early November, and the farm says weather and crowds can end a variety early.

VarietyApproximate window at Downey’s
Ambrosia, Golden DeliciousOctober 1 to 24
Northern SpyOctober 1 to 30
RussetOctober 14 to November 4
Jonagold, Mutsu, Red DeliciousOctober 1 to November 9
EmpireSeptember 24 to November 9

On Downey’s calendar, the windows for Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Gala and Cortland ended between October 1 and 8.

What about Chudleigh’s?

Chudleigh’s in Milton says on its website that apples are no longer picked from the trees, and that it sells pre-bagged apples instead. It also says tickets must be bought in advance. Check its site if you plan to visit for other fall activities.

Before you go

  • Check the farm’s update that morning. Rain can close fields, and busy weekends can pick a variety clean.
  • Bring cash. Big R’ takes cash only, and Albion recommends cash for picking.
  • Leave pets at home. Downey’s and Albion Orchards both say no pets.
  • Wear boots. Orchard rows can be wet and uneven in late fall.
  • Plan your weekend. Advance voting runs on October 16 and 17 at 10 locations across Brampton, and you can vote at any of them. Later in the month, the City runs free Halloween events in Brampton.
