What do you need to bring to vote early in Brampton?
To vote at a Brampton advance voting location, bring identification that shows your name and Brampton address. The City says your voter notice can make the process faster, but it is not required and cannot be used as identification.
If you never received a voter notice, you may not be on the Voters’ List. You can still vote by bringing acceptable ID. Election staff can add or update your information at City Hall or at the voting location.
How voting works at advance locations
At Brampton advance voting locations, every voter marks their ballot on an accessible touchscreen unit called an ExpressVote, the City says. The marked ballot then goes through a vote tabulator. On Election Day, voters mark paper ballots with a pen instead.
The accessible units include headphones with an audio ballot, a Braille keypad, high-contrast viewing, a rocker paddle and a sip-and-puff device. You can bring a support person, and election staff are trained to help.
Your ballot lists:
- Mayor (the whole city votes)
- One regional councillor and one city councillor for your ward pairing
- School board trustees, depending on which school board you support
Before you go, look over the 12 Brampton mayor candidates, the councillor candidates in your ward and the school board trustee races.

Can someone vote for you?
Yes. If you cannot vote in person, Brampton lets you appoint a proxy, another eligible Brampton voter, to vote for you. The person you appoint must have the proxy forms certified at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, which the City says is open for proxies during advance voting, including Saturdays, from noon to 5 p.m.
A certified proxy can vote at any advance voting location, or at a location in your ward on Election Day. Details are on the City’s Voting by Proxy page.
What this means for you
If you will be busy, away or working on October 26, this weekend is your last chance to vote early. Choose the location nearest your home, work or errands, check wait times in the City’s tool, and bring ID with your Brampton address. The City says more than 425,000 eligible voters can cast a ballot in this election.
