Brampton Recreation Registration: How to Sign Up for Programs

Brampton recreation registration happens online, in the Brampton Rec app, by phone through 311 or in person at any City recreation centre, and registration days now open at 7 a.m. To get resident rates and early access, you first have to verify your account in person with photo ID that shows a Brampton address.

At a glance

  • Where to register: online, the Brampton Rec app, any recreation centre, or by phone (311 or 905-874-2000 from outside Brampton)
  • Registration opens: 7 a.m. on registration day, according to the City’s Register for Programs page
  • Resident rates: verify your account in person, once every two years
  • Non-residents: pay a surcharge of at least 50% and register later
  • Fee help: ActiveAssist gives approved low-income residents $275 per family member
  • Open now: fall programs, Brampton Sports League, Learn to Swim and Learn to Skate, and winter break camps (December 21 to 31)

Recreation is paid for partly through the City portion of your tax bill, which our Brampton property tax guide explains.

How do I register for Brampton recreation programs?

Brampton recreation programs are booked through one City account, which you can use on the website or in the Brampton Rec app. You can also register in person at any recreation centre (cash, debit or credit) or by phone through 311 or a recreation centre (credit card only). Online and app payments take Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

Steps:

  1. Create an account on the City’s recreation registration site by clicking “Sign up”. Add every family member who will take programs.
  2. Verify your residency in person (see the next section). New accounts start as non-resident.
  3. Browse programs when the City makes them viewable, and note the course barcodes you want.
  4. Register at 7 a.m. on registration day. Add all your programs to the cart and check out in one go.
  5. Join a waitlist if a program is full. Staff call people in the order they joined.

The Brampton Rec app on the App Store and Google Play uses the same login. It handles registration, memberships, drop-ins and a digital membership card, but for now it only takes credit cards. ActiveAssist credits and account credits are not yet usable in the app, so use the website or a front desk for those.

How to verify your account for resident rates

Brampton residents verify their recreation account by bringing photo ID and proof of a Brampton address to the customer service desk at a City recreation centre. A driver’s licence with your Brampton address covers both. Until you do this, your account is treated as non-resident.

Who needs to do it, according to the City’s account verification page:

  • Every adult 18 or older on the account
  • Children under 18 need a verified adult listed on their account
  • Members 14 and older also need a current photo on their profile
  • Verification lasts two years, then you renew it

Centres that verify accounts include Cassie Campbell, Century Gardens, Chinguacousy Wellness, Earnscliffe, Ellen Mitchell, Gore Meadows, Greenbriar, Jim Archdekin, Ken Giles, Paul Palleschi and Riverstone, plus Balmoral, the Bob Callahan Flower City Seniors Centre and the Brampton Soccer Centre.

To check your status, sign in on a desktop, pick a family member and open the “Account Validation” tab. You should see “Account & Residency Validated” with a date. The City says Brampton property owners who live elsewhere also count as residents.

What does a Brampton recreation program cost if you are not a resident?

Non-residents pay a surcharge of at least 50% per person, per program, per session on most programs, memberships and rentals, the City’s How to Register page says. They also register on later dates.

As a worked example, a program listed at $100 for residents would cost a non-resident at least $150. That’s why an unverified account can cost you money, even if you live in Brampton.

Tips for registration day

The City’s registration FAQ and How to Register page suggest a few things that save time on a busy morning:

Brampton recreation registration checklist: verify residency, bring photo ID, add a card, save barcodes
  • Sign in before registration day and check every family member’s details.
  • Add a current credit card under “Financial Information” for faster checkout.
  • Save the course barcodes of your top picks, plus backups.
  • Use Google Chrome, which the City recommends.
  • Don’t refresh or close the page while payment is processing.
  • Don’t make a second account if you can’t log in. Credits and history won’t transfer. Email recreation@brampton.ca instead.

The City’s FAQ says everyone is placed in a virtual waiting room on registration morning and let in in random order, so logging in extra early doesn’t move you up. Once you are in, you can register for several programs without queueing again.

Waitlist etiquette matters too. Join only one waitlist per program per person. If a spot opens, you get 24 hours to confirm it.

When does winter recreation registration open?

The City of Brampton has not yet announced winter 2027 Brampton recreation registration dates. Last year it posted winter dates in mid-November, and registration for most winter 2026 programs opened on Monday, December 8, 2025, with swimming and skating a week later.

Fall 2026 programs run until Sunday, December 13. Winter break camps run from Monday, December 21 to Thursday, December 31, and registration for them is already open. Check the Register for Programs page or join the City’s recreation mailing list for the winter dates.

Refunds and withdrawals

Brampton recreation refunds depend on when you withdraw from a registered program. You can withdraw through your account before a course starts, at a recreation centre, or by emailing recreationadmin@brampton.ca.

When you withdrawWhat you get back
Before the program starts100% of the fee, as a credit or refund
After it starts, up to the 3rd classPro-rated fee, as a credit or refund
After the 3rd class startsNothing, unless it is a medical request with documentation

Some programs have their own rules, including full-year dance and preschool, aquatic leadership, skiing and snowboarding, and March Break and summer camps. Read the refund and withdrawal policy before you register for those.

ActiveAssist: help paying for programs

ActiveAssist is the City of Brampton’s fee subsidy for low-income residents. Approved families get a credit of $275 per eligible family member, so a family of four receives $1,100, and the approval lasts two years.

The credit works for most registered programs, drop-ins and memberships. It doesn’t cover things like golf green fees, private lessons, rentals, tennis memberships or ski hill admission. To apply, you need:

  • proof of Brampton residency
  • proof of total family net income
  • proof of legal responsibility for any dependants on the application

Apply online through the ActiveAssist page, drop off a form at any recreation centre, or mail it to ActiveAssist Brampton, 2 Wellington St. W., Brampton, ON L6Y 4R2. The City says a decision takes up to three weeks, and it is currently seeing longer waits. Questions go to activeassist@brampton.ca or 905-874-2329.

If you also need help with bus fare to get to programs, the Affordable Transit Program in our Brampton Transit guide is a separate income-based program run through Peel Region.

What this means for you

  • Verify your account at a recreation centre now, before the next Brampton recreation registration day.
  • Check that every adult on your account is verified, not only you.
  • Apply for ActiveAssist early if money is tight, since approval can take weeks.
  • Watch for winter dates in November, and plan for a 7 a.m. start.

For free activities in the meantime, Brampton’s Halloween events at Gore Meadows and Cassie Campbell and a Brampton Library card are both free.
