What changes on the Brampton GO train on October 26?
GO Transit is adjusting service on the Kitchener, Lakeshore West, Milton and Stouffville lines starting October 26, 2026, “to better reflect travel times,” with some trains departing up to nine minutes earlier or later. The change applies to Brampton GO train riders at all three stations.
Two other changes come with it, according to GO Transit’s service notice:
- Train length. Many trains across the network will have a different number of coaches, so the spot where you usually wait on the platform may no longer line up with the doors. GO says the number of coaches is shown on platform screens at every station except Union.
- Boarding time. GO asks riders to give themselves extra time to board while the new lengths settle in.
The new Kitchener line timetable is posted on GO’s PDF schedules page as the schedule effective October 26. If you commute at the same time every day, look up your exact train in the GO trip planner on Sunday night or Monday morning.
Which Brampton GO station should I use?
All three Brampton GO stations sit on the Kitchener line and have free parking, accessible train and bus service, elevators and Brampton Transit connections. They differ in parking size, staffed hours and which other transit lines meet there, according to each station’s GO Transit page.

Mount Pleasant GO
Mount Pleasant GO, on Bovaird Drive West in northwest Brampton, is the first Brampton stop for trains coming from the west. Its 1,486-space lot is free, and staff are on site weekday mornings until noon.
Brampton Innovation District GO
Brampton Innovation District GO, at 27 Church Street West, is the downtown station, formerly called Brampton GO. It’s the only Brampton GO station with VIA Rail service. Weekend riders should note that the station is not staffed on weekends and holidays.
Bramalea GO
Bramalea GO, on Steeles Avenue East, has the biggest lot of the three, with 2,370 free spaces in two lots. It’s the only Brampton GO station where MiWay buses connect, which helps riders coming from Mississauga. Metrolinx said in 2024 that it was adding 30-minute midday and evening service between Bramalea and Union, and it has announced weekend trains every 30 minutes on the same stretch.

How much is a GO train from Brampton?
A Brampton GO train fare depends on how far you travel and your fare type: adult, senior, youth or post-secondary student. GO Transit doesn’t charge a flat fare, so a trip from Mount Pleasant to Union costs more than a trip from Bramalea to Union. The GO trip planner shows the exact fare for your trip.
Discounts GO Transit lists on its fare pages:
| Rider | Discount | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Kids 12 and under | Free, 24 hours a day | See GO’s Kids GO Free page |
| Youth 13 to 19 | 40% off the adult fare | Set the youth fare type on your PRESTO card |
| Post-secondary students | 40% off | Eligible students, with PRESTO |
| Seniors 65 and older | 55% off | PRESTO card with the senior fare type, or a GO e-ticket |
You set a senior or youth fare type on PRESTO at Union Station or a customer service outlet, with ID.
Ways to pay on the Brampton GO train
- PRESTO card: $4 at a customer service outlet or vending machine.
- PRESTO in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet: free to set up, then tap your phone or watch.
- Credit or debit card: tap directly on the PRESTO reader, or tap your phone if you use Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- GO e-tickets and passes: bought on your phone. GO e-tickets are not eligible for One Fare savings.
- Paper tickets: from vending machines at the station.
Tap on before you board and tap off when you arrive. GO fares are based on the distance between the two points, so both taps count.
Keep an eye on your PRESTO balance. Since March 2, 2026, GO Transit says that if your balance can’t cover your full fare at tap-off, your card goes into a negative balance, and you can’t tap it on any transit until you reload. Autoload or a low-balance alert in the PRESTO app avoids that.
Free transfers between the Brampton GO train and Brampton Transit
Ontario’s One Fare program lets you transfer from GO to most local transit for free, including Brampton Transit, MiWay and the TTC, when you pay with PRESTO, a credit or debit card, or a mobile wallet. GO says the savings apply automatically when you tap.
In practice, a rider who takes a Brampton Transit bus to Bramalea GO and the train to Union pays the GO fare and the bus ride is covered. The same works in reverse on the way home. GO e-tickets don’t qualify, so pay with PRESTO or a bank card if you connect to a bus.
What’s coming up on the Kitchener line
Brampton GO train riders have three dates to plan around in the next two weeks:
| Date | What happens | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Monday, October 26 | New GO schedule; some trains move by up to nine minutes, many change length | GO service changes notice |
| Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1 | Trains run only between Mount Pleasant GO and Mount Dennis GO; no trains to Union | Our Kitchener line closure guide |
| Monday, November 2 | Brampton Transit service changes | Our Brampton Transit changes guide |
Monday, October 26 is also municipal election day. If you’re commuting, our Brampton election day guide has voting hours and what ID to bring.
Can I bring a bike on the Brampton GO train?
You can bring a bike on GO trains outside rush hour. GO’s Kitchener line timetable says bikes are not allowed in Union Station or on trains on weekdays from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. and from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Foldable bikes are allowed at all times. All three Brampton GO stations have bike racks.
What this means for you
If you ride the Brampton GO train, the October 26 schedule change is small but easy to miss: the train you catch every morning could now leave a few minutes earlier. Check your train in the trip planner before Monday, stand where the platform screen says your coaches will stop, and plan around the shortened service on October 31 and November 1.
Before you go:
- Look up your train time on the new schedule.
- Load your PRESTO card or set up autoload.
- Set the senior, youth or student fare type if you qualify.
- Pay with PRESTO or a bank card, not an e-ticket, if you connect to Brampton Transit.
